The Coffee Shop Final Campaign

Thompson, Ohio is in desperate need of a place to buy a cup of coffee, a place to socialize and a community hub. Currently all of those things require a 15-minute drive from anywhere inside the township limits. At The Ox Shoppe, we have designated space for such a venue. We also have the social space for customers to enjoy their purchase while playing with their kids, working remotely, or hanging out with friends. More importantly, the Ox Shoppe Café will serve as an employment venue and fundraiser for the mission of The Ox Shoppe---which is to put adults with barriers to employment into meaningful, dignified, and fair paying jobs in the local foods industry. The Ox Shoppe Café will be a full-service coffee shop that will serve our own locally roasted blends of coffee and espresso drinks, bakery created by local artisan bakers, and locally produced ice cream. It will be staffed in part by adults with disabilities and other barriers to employment, and it will serve as a gathering place for the community---as the building did in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. The Ox Shoppe, a 501(C)3 charitable organization, currently seeks sponsors to assist in financing the build-out of the Café. The donation will assist in building costs, and equipment purchases that are necessary to open the café. Once operational, we estimate that the café will contribute $40,000 per year directly to the operating fund of the organization.
